Democratic Reform
For a New Republic

Economic Recovery

The Irish Nation faces the greatest challenge in its history, bad government, financial corruption and, a culture of Rip off Ireland, has destroyed the economy. We are faced with a fight for the very existence of the Irish Republic. How sad, that the successors to those who fought for Irish Freedom, have brought our Nation to its knees. While there is no doubt our economy will recover, what will be the price.
We cannot build a strong Irish Economy without Social Justice.

  1. Restore Irish Control over the Irish Economy;

  2. At present the Eurozone is being managed for the benefit of Germany and France. If you have any doubts about this consider the U-Turn on Monetary Quantitave easing now that Germany and France are facing the possibility of reccession. If the Eurozone is to survive, the Euro currency must be managed for the benefit of all member states, not just the powerful few, and must not be allowed become a tool, the sole purpose of which is for the integration and federalisation of Europe.
    A Dual Currency System
    The Irish Nation should adopt a dual currency system, using a domestic currency (the Punt) alongside the Euro. This would allow for adjustment of the domestic currency relative to the Euro with ease.
    Debt
    With German and French banks writing down their Greek debtor accounts, Greece has effectively been allowed a partial default of its National debt, Iceland simply defaulted, and has survived. The Irish Government must demand equal treatment from Europe in the management of its debt crisis.
    Dicipline
    Introduce a constitutional limit on government borrowing for current account funding, of 3% of GDP. Reducing to this level over a period of 5 Years.
    (similar to that required by the EU / IMF)

  3. Reform our Tax System;

  4. While being aware of those factors which can deter investment in our economy, we must seek a balance of taxation which is both fair, and supportive of our economy. Switzerland has shown that low personal tax rates is a major attraction for the location of international corporations, and retention of the highly skilled employees required by these corporations.
    Tax Reform
    1. Replace the 12.5% Corporation Tax Rate, with a scheme of tax relief related to the number of people employed. (As exists in France)

    2. Remove all current tax concessions, and replace them with a system of refundable tax credits targeted at Education, Family Support, Health Care, and Job creation.

    3. The "Non-Resident" status used by some citizens to avoid paying tax must be removed. Citizenship is a "Right" which carries Responsibility to the State.

  5. Immigration Control

    Many immigrants come to Ireland not to "Work", but seeking "Welfare", These immigrants must be told in no uncertain terms, If you are willing to work, integrate and contribute to the Nation, you are welcome, but if you come looking for a handout we cannot and will not support you.

    Any non-national who cannot show sufficient means of financial self support must be told to leave, Just as in Australia, America, Etc. The Irish Nation is not and must not become the "Poor-House".

    This is not Racism, its economic Reality.
